Kelty blazes new trails in women’s market with continued commitment to contoured sleeping bags and shaped packs

BOULDER, COLORADO (For Immediate Release) – Continuing a tradition of women-friendly outdoor gear that dates back to 1987, Kelty has expanded its line of women’s specific backpacks and sleeping bags for spring 2007.

Kelty’s presence at the forefront of women’s outdoor products dates back to the introduction of the first outdoor women’s catalog and advertising campaign in 1987.

Their visible dedication grew even more this January with the launch of the 2006 Kelty Woman campaign, a comprehensive effort to encourage, cultivate and keep women involved in the outdoor community.

Based on extensive research into women's physiology, Kelty women’s sleeping bags are narrower in the shoulders, offer more hip room, and provide extra insulation in the feet, chest, and head to ensure a cozy night’s sleep even on the coldest nights.

Kelty women’s backpacks feature a shorter torso, which delivers a more accurate fit; narrower, curved shoulder straps which are angled to fit the shoulders and curved to avoid the chest; and a conical waistbelt which provides enhanced comfort.

The new Kelty women’s bags begin with the ultralight Light Year 15º ($180), stuffed with 650-fill goose down for premium packability and loft, and weighing only 2 lb.,10 oz. In the Lightweight category, the Cosmic 35º ($70) is ideal for summer backpacking or warm climate adventures, weighing only 2 lb.,10 oz.

For women, the Luxury Camping offerings begin with the Luxor 20º ($180), featuring plush 650-fill down on the top for warmth and comfort, synthetic Quallofil on the bottom for superior dryness and warmth, and a sueded polyester-nylon interior for purely pleasing sleeping. An interior iPod pocket not only keeps the sound of the campsite at bay, but also creates instant jealousy from your neighboring campers. An outside welded pocket keeps smaller items – like lip balm or contact lenses close at hand. Also in Luxury Camping, the Monaco 20º ($130) is all-synthetic fill, with the same features as the Luxor.

For warmer nights, the roomy, rectangular Eclipse 35º ($60) offers durability and cozy comfort on a budget, but still features all the same women’s-specific designs that make the Kelty line truly unique.
