This is the best tent I could find for the money. Nothing else compares to this tent, to beat it you with have to spend twice or three times as much. Easy setup, packs smaller than the stuff sack provided, weights under 5Lbs. Vestibule is on the small side when sleeping two up for two large backpacks but its not bad. Interior space is tight with two but more than doable. Again, for the price nothing compares. Quality and fit is fantastic, is water proof and wind proof. I have had this in all sorts of weather mainly in the Rocky Mountains area. Great tent!

Great little tent for 1 and a half. A bit small for 2, but it would work if you were cozy and didnt need to store gear. This tent will pack down with the fly and footprint into a stuff sack that is about 1/3 the size of the sack it comes with, which I found to be pretty impressive. The tent did well in a 24 hour non-stop hard pouring rain until about 8 hours in - then it started to show a little seepage around the base of the edges, That probably could have been improved upon by staking the fly out a bit further away from the tent. If you are going to weather heavy continuous rain, I would recommend and extra coat of silicone spray and seam sealer on the exposed lower portion of the tent and the bottom but that would apply to any tent. The rain fly never let any water through at all on the upper 4/5 of the tent. This tent weathered the storm much better than my camp mates tents. The zippers work well, ventilation is good - no condensation on a 33 degree humid morning. Overall a great buy.

This tent I bought after a huge storm I was in camping at Sturgis one year. I camp off a motorcycle. The tent I was using during the storm I had a terrible time keeping it from blowing down. Wind and rain got up under my fly and yes I was in a panic trying to keep the tent from blowing over and my contents inside my tent from getting wet. The person camping next to me slept through the storm. he was in a Grand Mesa 2 and had no problems like many of us did that night. I left the following day of the storm to witness many drying out stuff in all sorts of camp grounds. The gentleman who was in the Kelty had nothing wet or any damage to his tent at all. I got home. The very same week i went and bought myself a grand mesa 2. It is now one of the two kelty tents I use going camping with friends. Depending on need for space it is the grand mesa 2 or my new gunnison 3.1 alway on the bike now. Kelty, keep up the good work of making tents of good quality and well worth the cost which is quite reasonable in comparison from tents I have seen and talked to other bikers for use. I am considering a gunnison 2.1 pro for a kayak adventure a dear freind of mine and I are considering doing. Who says women 60 years of age can't have the fun of the great outdoors? Fools I guess. I own two GM2 tents and haven't seen anything in this price range that weighs 4 lbs. You can typically find them at SportChalet for ~$75. The GM2 works equally well in snow (you'll need a footprint) or 95 degree heat. It's easily large enough for myself (over 6' tall and 260 lbs.) but would be tight with another person. You could spend more, but why?

I have a slightly older year model (maybe 2007 or 2008 - but the specs are nearly identical and only a color difference) of the Grand Mesa 2. I have used this tent on the AT, high desert at BBNP on the Rio Grande, above treeline in Colorado, and on several other local hikes and climbs. I have spent nights in it down to at least 20 degrees and have weathered more than a couple rain storms in it as well while staying perfectly dry. It sets up pretty intuitively also. I am a short guy, 5'7", but I like to spread out in the evenings and keep as much of my gear inside the tent as possible while I read and relax. I have only ever slept one person in this tent, but two would work - albeit a bit snug. All of that being said, I couldn't be any happier with this tent for the price I paid. Although the rain fly is quiet dirty from all the mud and rain, this thing hasn't had any problems at the seams and zipper or suffered anything more than a little wear and tear. If you don't want to spend another $150-$200 on top of the already low price just to save 1.5 lbs then this is the tent for you. If you do some shopping around, you can find it for cheaper than listed on this website as well.

I used this tent on a number of trips and it works great as either a 2 man or a 1 man tent because it is so much lighter then any tent out there right now. It has put up with the abuse of 3 hail storms, countless inches of rain, and some of the most insane winds I have ever experienced. Great equipment no matter what the weather is outside.

I also have taken this wonderful tent to Philmont on a 90 mile trek, and it was not only extremely spacious, but also offered ample rain protection. This tent, weighing in at 4 lbs., is also a fairly lightweight, low cost option, compared to the majority of similar tents out there.

My son and I packed 70 miles at Philmont we are both 6' + and we were fine inside - the weight of the tent makes packing more enjoyable - easy set up/take down did great in rain and upper 20's only wish it had a back door but great tent for price I would buy again.
