I bought the previous generation of this tent 14 years ago because it was a relatively light, yet durable, backpacking 4-man. It is easy to set up, the rainfly goes on quickly, the bag is big enough to hold the entire tent, even if the tent has not been rolled up perfectly, and it never leaked or otherwise failed deep in the Sierra Nevada backcountry. (I recommend using a lightweight tarp (e.g a piece of Tyvek) under the tent to protect the bottom.) Even though the tent has been used by children, it has worn like iron: no holes in the floor, the taped seams are undamaged, the mesh is as good as new, the rainwater does not wick through the rainfly, and every part still works. The large mesh panels keep the tent cool on warm days, and the rainfly keeps the heat in and wind/rain out at night. After 15 years of use, the shock cord in the poles needed replacing and the zipper pulls were worn out and needed replacing. Kelty handled this under their lifetime warranty at no cost and without complaint and returned the tent with a note describing the repairs. They checked out the entire tent and made repairs that I did not even ask for. Looking at the pictures and specs of the latest version of the this tent, I can see that Kelty improved how the poles attach to the tent. I would buy this tent again for backpacking with four people at between 7,000 and 12,000 ft in the Summer in the Sierra Nevada.

Pros:Weight is great! You could hike this in for 3 adults or 2 adults/ 2 children. The best is that it's small enough to split the load between adults. And it's very breathable in those hot summer months. Cons: I don't find the fly hard to install like others but getting in and out is definitely a task. No one wants to go out in the rain but when you have to it's be a task. The one little plus to the fly is the small spot between the fly and the tent. Good spot to keep shoes dry.

Bought this tent for our family tramping (hiking) trips, first full outing and it went well. We’re based in New Zealand. Pros: * Super easy to put up * Really good weight * Fits 2 adults/2 kids (U10) fine Cons * On the fly there are lops top peg it down between corners. Only problem is that the fly sits too far above the ground, you’ll you to add some extensions to adequately peg it down, so that it doesn’t touch the tent (and leak) * Having said that, we’ve had a hard time getting the fly to sit right and for the fly seams to sit on top of the poles (and thus seam) * And yes, with 4 people in summer there is some condensation We’ve yet to test it in heavy wind or rain, but to be honest, with 2 kids under 10 we probably won’t’ be out in those conditions. Overall, I believe we made the right choice. Light to carry, easy to put up, and roomy enough. A 4 person tent is always going to be a compromise between weight, price and quality. This tent does the first 2 well, we’ll see how it lasts. Finally, I’d recommend you buy the footprint, the tent floor is very light.

Been using this for just over a year now with positive results. I'm not crazy about the fly, mainly because there is absolutely no way to get in or out of the tent without crawling on hands and knees; otherwise a wet back is a guarantee. The fly does make a nice vestibule, but the wet back isn't worth it. That said, I spent a week in South Dakota this summer with the fly removed and it was spectacular.
