Shadehouse

I purchased 2 of older 2010 models, NEW in 2012. Excellent shelter for the beach! My only complaint is that the slide sleeve joints on the end top rails and legs are too weak. They can and do break. Kelty repaired them for free and then 3 more broke last fall. I have requested the parts from Kelty and hopefully, they will sell or provide them free of cost so I can repair them. It really is a great shelter with one weak flaw Kelty needs to address. (Are you listening Kelty?).

I wrote a previous comment a year ago. This has been the best beach shelter I have ever bought - take that from somebody who has to be careful of sun exposure. It goes up easily, weathers the wind, and comes down also very easily. We always get folks who stop by and want to know where to get this shelter. It's the best. My only grip is please change the poles to composite some of the others. I will admit I am looking now at the pavilion for that reason but Kelty has this down to a science - easily the best beach shelter on the market for two years running.

Love it! Previous two reviews say it all. I purchased the large and there was plenty of room for my entire family. If you do what I do and read reviews on other sites there are a couple common negatives posted which I may be able to clear up. 1) Set-up: being an avid camper and having had the opportunity to set-up a few tents throughout my life I have to say the Kelty Shadehouse is pretty intuitive! That said, the difficulty stems from the physical strength needed to bend/insert the poles into the grommets. If you have 2 people there is no problem but I can see how trying to set the Shadehouse up alone would be difficult. 2) Improper fit of side wall accessory to the Shadehouse: this one is simple. This stems from an owner trying to match an older model Shadehouse to a current model side wall accessory.

My wife and Bought the 2010 model which is identical to the new 011 model except for color. We love this Shadehouse! We have used this on the beach and we highly suggest using screw-in sand anchors and in windy conditions add guy lines to the upwind side. For this the sand/snow anchors work best. The tend hardly moved in 30mph winds. One of the best family camping purchases ever!
