Ok for a kindergartner but still extremely small, i bought the 2011 model via the Sale link on the kelty.com site. i would have been upset had i paid full price.

We need a good backpack to carry our youngest son's medication and supplies with us, everywhere we go...all the time. We've gone through several that were either too big, too small, uncomfortable to carry or of poor quality.
I'm happy to say, finally, the Grommet is the one for us. Perfect size, not too big or small and very comfortable to carry for all day use. Thanks to Kelty for another high quality product at a great price! We're a customer for life.

Just purchased my second Grommet backpack for my daughter's kindergarten school year. My son has used his from K - 2 and honestly think it will still be in great shape for 3rd! And trust me... he is not easy on it. Great size for the kiddos, holds plenty including 8x11 size homework folders. No disney characters! Highly recommend!
