  1. Great summer bag

This bag is very handy, Not to hot in the summer, compact for trips, perfect for campers, or motorcycle trips. Mountain use without a liner would be pushing it. I have 3 of these for wife and kids. on Aug 31st 2018

  2. Great bag, great price

I used the bag for the first time this past week. Spent a couple of nights on the coast of RI. Nights were in the 50's and the bag wasn't too hot or too cold. Can't wait to spend some time in the Green Mountains chasing brookies. on Jun 25th 2018

  3. Good for backpacking

This pad packs up nice and small, but isn’t very thick. Great for saving space, but thicker pads would be better for casual camping. on Apr 24th 2018

  4. The cosmic series is great

I started out backpack camping with a Cosmic down 0. Took on early season archery hunts in the Ochocos of Oregon. Little too warm most of the time. Then bought a Cosmic down 20. More often than not during the same time in Sept? Slept with the bag mostly unzipped. Decided to add the Cosmic down 40 to the arsenal. Great choice. During the Sommer months, I'll use the 40 and bring a liner just in case? But haven't needed it. Everybody's metabolism is different and I tend to sleep warm anyways? The 40 worked great, compressed VERY NICELY I must add and weighs very little. There are lighter bags out there to replace all of my Cosmic bags. This series of bag is typical Kelty quality and very light and true to temp. At least for me. Bang for the buck in my eyes can't be beat. It should be known that I probably spend a month or better in the backcountry every year and my first 2 bags are going strong at 6 and 5 years respectively. on Oct 24th 2017

  5. Great in the South

I purchased this bag and have carried it on several hikes in Georgia. It is a warm and comfortable bag for when the night only get down into the 40's or 50's. The added advantage of the light wieght and mid climate rating for the southern hiker. on Feb 3rd 2017

  6. Maybe this bag should be rated for 50 degrees?

I loved the packability of this bag when I first purchased it. It was substantially lighter and more compact than many other bags in the 40-ish degree area. However since owning it there has not been a night in it that I wasn't freezing, even in 55 degree california night on my last back packing trip. I bought a liner and even with the liner there are areas of the bag that feel thin and cold. I think this is an ideal indoor bag. on Sep 9th 2016

  7. Not even warm to 45f

    I have last year's 550 fill bag.
Took this bag on a back country hike in Rocky Mountain National Park two weeks ago. Even on a night that it only got down to 48f my feet were freezing.

I even bought a 20f liner to help with it and it still wasn't good even down to 40f.

  8. Great for travel

I really love this sleeping bag. It's very lightweight and small, fits perfectly on the straps of my pack. That being said, there isn't much cushion or padding to lay on but if you have a mat or don't mind hard ground you'll be satisfied. It's kept me warm but not too hot in 40-60 degree weather. Have yet to use it on colder weather, and with 70s it gets a little warm but not bad. A little more roomy than a mummy but still compact. I would definitely recommend this sleeping bag. on May 28th 2016

  9. Pack size perfect

I originally thought I would only use the cosmic 40 in warm weather. Well I just returned from an overnight hike /fishing trip the day time temp was 70but overnight it dropped to about 35. I stayed warm and cozy in the bag but I would not risk any colder. Very well constructed zipper /draw cord work flawless. Packs down very small on Apr 21st 2016

  10. Warm at 10,000 feet

I took this bag into the back country on a fly-fishing trip at 10,000 feet in July. After a day of fishing I got back to camp and it was cold... to cold for July. I was worried I would be cold all night. I crawled into this bag and slept the whole night. Not once did I roll over to think about adding a layer in the middle of the night. My buddy on the other hand wouldn't stop complaining the next day about how cold he was the night before. This bag also packs down into the size of a fruit roll-up. on Mar 24th 2016
