I've owned this tent for three years and used it well, including the craziest thunderstorm I've ever been in, along with a lot of normal rainy nights, and even more beautiful nights looking at the stars through the mesh.
It still performs great (just stained a little more!). The cheap carrying bag ripped so I just put the fly and tent into a stuff stack and carry the poles outside of the backpack. Biff McGriff on May 2nd 2018
I love the design of the tent. Feels like nice material with good zippers. The poles are super nice and magnetic, which makes setting up the tent a breeze. It is quite spacious for one person but would fit two if needed. Super happy with this tent! Unknown on Aug 5th 2017
This is a great all round tent that I am very happy with. My complaint is how it was sold. The sales price does not include three guy lines and stakes for the back and sides of the rain fly which are sold separately. This ended up costing me about $28 extra to get a complete tent. It is like buying a sleeping bag and then finding out that you have to buy the zipper separately and at additional cost. David Lila on Jun 16th 2017
Top quality in every aspect, yes, even the zippers. Just remember there is one door on the end, not the middle. If you are good with that, this is the tent to get. Easy to put up and take down. Roomy for one, tight for two but doable. Good in a strong wind too! I did have to use longer stakes because of the wind. Quality tent. Peaches on May 9th 2017
I purchased the 2012 model several years ago at a local retailer for about $100 and couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase. I shopped a lot and bought this as a "good enough" tent while I was saving for a premium backpacking tent, over the years I have never felt the need to shop for another tent. It packs down small, goes up fast, doesn't weigh too much and still looks brand new after dozens of camping trips. As far as backpacking tents go it is a good size for a two person model, but if you're planning on storing gear inside, or camp in warmer climates where a little space between campers is welcome, then I might suggest looking at 3 person option. I have 20 plus backpacking tents in my personal inventory- By far this is the most used tent in my collection. Fast to put up, decent size and weight for a two person tent. After other backpackers have seen my tent and learn the value , I have had 21 people purchase the Grand Mesa 2 - They all have said the same thing... Great Tent for the price and quality.
Note: this tent is not for all seasons and in high wind the walls get pushed in BUT never failed.
Would I continue to recommend it YES... Jeff Dillavou on Jul 26th 2016
Bought this tent used from a friend (2009 tent). It has performed very well in temperate Michigan. I have put it to the test on the beach, deep in the forest and in the Everglades and it has performed very well. The only con is the weight but for the price it's expected . Drew V on Jul 22nd 2016
Fist I have been camping my whole life and have had many tents,
The grand Mesa 2 is perfect. Fits two adults no problem,Can sit up in it with out hitting head, Vestibule has plenty of room for two bags at 50l and 65l. I have also cooked under it with no problem. It does not leak I got caught in a heavy rain storm and stayed dry not one leak it rained for about 3 hrs HARD! Unknown on May 26th 2016
I'm very satisfied with my Grand Mesa 2. I have hiked and camped with it for about 15 nights in cold, heat, wind, and rain. It has kept me dry and comfortable. The weight is very reasonable and it is a great value for the money. Carlos on Apr 8th 2016
Great tent. Took it on the West Coast Trail and it held up great. It was light weight and dried quickly. 4th day into hike I lost my tent poles, so now looking for replacements. :/ Great tent though. Highly recommend it, just don't lose the tent poles. Shad on Jul 6th 2015
