Avid backpacker here. I used the tent for the first time this past weekend. The bag it comes in is a little awkward to deal with. I separated the tent from the poles and put them inside my backpack. I found it easier to deal with that way and even lighter. That night I got my 50ltr pack and my 75lb dog inside. We slept comfortably snug. My pack can definitely store under the vestibule for more room inside. I struggled with a larger 2man, 4-5lb tent for a few years. I'm soooo glad I downsized! Easy and quick to set up too. Was a bit windy, tent held up great. I did not use the tie down either, just staked it out. With cooler mountain temperatures at 10,000ft, it was still pretty warm inside. Thanks Kelty! I haven't had this in the field yet. Set up is easy...no instruction needed. This is my third Kelty tent; good quality and light weight. I wish the vestibule was a little larger. Chris on Jun 6th 2017
I chose the Salida 1 for the extra shot poles and the square bag. This tent is quite light and has plenty of space inside for yourself and a little bit of gear. I have spent some pretty hot nights and feel the ventitlation is totally there. stayed dry in total downpour and did not blow away in 40 mph winds. Great tent! A great value and price. It performed perfectly in the four or five nights of rain I've slept through. Everything stayed bone dry and I appreciated the ventilation in the humidity. It sets up and takes down in minutes and packs small. It's a tight squeeze for two, but I bought it for my solo treks. The positive reviews from Backpacker Mag are spot on. Richard on May 11th 2015
Just received it. Set up indoors. Very easy to set up. Major complaint- no fly venting. Assume it will be very hot in summer. Other than that; well made, very good looking tent. New rectangular carry bag is different. Will have to add some sort of ties to tighten fly and tent when packed to keep size down. I'm exchanging it for the Gunnison 1.3. John on Mar 24th 2015
