I have been scouring the internet for a sling backpack that I could use as a "go-bag" for whatever activity popped up: wandering a city, hiking, etc. A sling-bag that could carry some essentials, but isn't too bulky. When I found the Spur, read other reviews, and watched the video, I thought I'd found it.
However, when I received the Spur in the mail I was disappointed. Here're things I didn't like:
-At 9L capacity, the pack is just too small. It's just large enough to fit ONLY essentials, so if I went anywhere (e.g. a farmer's market) and made anything other than a small a purchase, all my things wouldn't fit.
-The zippers don't move that smoothly, so I'm worried about their longevity.
-The internal pouch in the main compartment can't hold much and is sort of tight, so putting a normal-sized wallet or set of keys in it seems like it'd stress it.
-The phone pouch on the shoulder strap is tight and really didn't fit my cell phone.
-The shove-it pocket isn't a shove-it pocket as much as it's just a water bottle pocket.
Things I liked:
-Style/color (I ordered the Black Geo-Heather).
-Sling-style that can accommodate either shoulder.
-3-point harness that can be stowed. I think every sling-style bag should have this feature.
If you're looking for a tiny sling-bag to hold a handful of small things, this is for you. Sadly, my search continues. Daimhin on Jul 26th 2018
I use the Spur when out birding, especially when birding on a mountain bike. I keep the bird ID book and rain gear in the pack, but have easy access by just pulling the pack around to my front side. Water bottle and other gear, like snacks, also within easy reach. For a super small pack, it can hold quite a bit of gear. I love the phone pocket on the strap -- I use a phone app to record species seen and other data, and having the phone in easy reach, but still fully protected, is just great. Spur appears to be well made and rugged, and will be tested over the coming years that I expect it to perform. I will use Spur every time I would need to use a pack, but don't want to bring one. Use it for a gym , festival, and everyday bag. Perfect bag to carry essentials on an everyday basis when you don't need a backpack. Andrew on Apr 19th 2018
I really like this pack for hikes 5 miles and under. Enough room for the essentials for me and my dog. Unknown on Feb 28th 2018
