Did a lot of research and was excited to finally settle on this sleeping bag. That is until I noticed the review above calling out the Prop 65 warning tag. Why wasn't this in other reviews? Will be looking for a new, non-toxic company to purchase from. Unknown on Aug 16th 2018
I bought this sleeping bag for my fiance to use for camping. She really enjoys the space in the sleeping bag and the adjustments that come with it. She loves to have her feet sticking out of the bottom, especially on a warm summer night. We are both happy with the quality of the zippers and the draw strings! This is a very versatile bag that can pack pretty small given it's features! Definitely would recommend! Asa Nelson on Jul 30th 2018
I loved this sleeping bag. I was looking for a non-mummy style bag and I tried this at REI and loved it. I took it home and I was so comfortable in it that I nearly fell asleep in it on my living room floor. I cut off the tag and then I looked at the tag.
On the back of the tag it has a warning that it contains materials known to cause cancer and birth defects. Seriously? This bag seems particularly marketed towards women - and it is made with materials that cause cancer and birth defects? I went to the Proposition 65 website that was linked to on the tag - and it said "Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm." and "By law, a warning must be given for listed chemicals unless the exposure is low enough to pose no significant risk of cancer or is significantly below levels observed to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.". Which means that there is only a warning placed on the label if the risk of the chemicals in the product is more than just a low risk. I also just read the FAQS about Proposition 65 pages that Kelty has on it's website and it seems very dismissive of Prop 65 and full of excuses for why their products have safety warning on them. As someone whose Mother is a breast cancer survivor, whose Father is currently fighting for his life against acute myeloid leukemia, whose Mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor, whose Father-in-law is a colon cancer survivor, and whose husband lost his best friend and cousin to leukemia at 7 years old - I'm not going to take my chances with this. It's not just my health - but the health of my young daughters and husband who snuggle up to me in my sleeping bag while camping - that I am concerned about.
I started reading and it looks like other outdoor recreation product companies are ditching many of the toxic chemicals. I chose to return this very well designed and comfortable sleeping bag in exchange for one that honestly is not as comfortable or well designed by another company - but is made by a company that has committed to not using some of the worst chemicals and so does not need to place a health warning on their bag. When it comes time to buy my 11 year old daughter a new bag for her growing body - I will be going with a company that chooses to spend their time finding alternatives to using toxic chemicals rather than spending their time posting excuses and whining about having to follow all these rules for human health and safety. You can do better than this Kelty. Momof2girls on Jul 28th 2018
I am all over the temperature chart when I sleep and this bag makes it happen so I can stay cozy, cool it down or whatever in-between I need. The zip down by my feet makes it rock! Unknown on Oct 2nd 2017
This bag is designed for exactly the way I sleep. Haven't camped yet with it, but tried it out on the floor, and I love it. I can sleep with or without the inner blanket, and I can regulate the temperature further by exposing just my toes or just my shoulders... or both! This bag should keep me toasty warm in the cold. And my pillow can't escape. The fabric is luxurious but seems really durable. Best buy I have made in years! Pat on Aug 10th 2017
Felt toasty when temps got down in the 20s. Unzipped and used just the inner blanket when temps were in lower 40s. Hood holds full size pillow and can be drawn down to cover your head. Not light wt so probably not for hikers CJ on May 19th 2016
