It's like bringing your bed with you camping. The roomy Kelty Tru.Comfort Zip is built with a unique removable blanket system for temperature control, plus an oversized mummy shape and full-length 2-way zipper opening so you can sleep in any position you desire.
Dude I love this sleeping bag. As a disclaimer, my sleeping bag history started with a Little Mermaid kid one, then a run-of-the-mill rectangle that lasted my teen years through college which has now been 'rehomed' to my brother who prefers to spend his money on his truck rather than things he can get for free (like sleeping bags from sisters). I have had this sleeping bag for precisely one year and I absolutely love it! Took it on a roadtrip to Colorado and Utah last May - we sleep in the back of the truck with a camper shell and yes we do have other blankets and even a heating pad if needed, so I haven't truly put the temp rating to the test. Also used it a few other times within Texas, including one night where I was cool but just okay once snuggled and my brother was apparently cold! I'm a string bean who doesn't produce much body heat so I have really enjoyed this product and the built in, removable throw blanket. I even bring another blanket for something fuzzy and snuggly and more like home / added insulation, though depending on which blanket I bring it can get a little tangled in there. Love the zipper design and how the blanket also attaches to the same side - it has been GREAT to unzip the sleeping bag most of the way and let it ooze open but still be covered by the inner blanket if I don't need it quite so insulated!!! I'm also likely a princess because I really prefer my regular pillow over camping pillows and this fits it PERFECTLY.
I even love the colors - I have the 'Twilight', which is navy blue exterior, purple blanket and other trim, and grey interior. LOVE IT.
I used it on the big roadtrip and maybe 5 other weekends within Texas. I even just used it for dogsitting at someone's house and have brought it to my friend's apartment (4 of us in a 1 bedroom place can make a basket of blankets feel insufficient).
Oh, and I also love the width. I like to sleep on my side or stomach, often with a knee drawn up. This is wide enough to accommodate that and I love it. Mummy bags always look so restricting, so the big pillow area and nice width of this just really work out well for me.
Picked this out online and so happy that it turned out to be perfect!!
I see that it's out of stock but seems to exist in other colors and maybe some variation on the temp rating - I personally recommend it! I'm hoping to try tent camping again and bring this along!
ONLY possible unhappiness would be that I haven't been able to fit it back into the stuff sack.
It's also NOT suited for backpacking due to its weight, but you likely know that from the description. I have no interest in backpacking (truck camping is fun but carrying EVERYTHING just doesn't appeal to me) so I wasn't limited by weight! Megan on Mar 18th 2018
