We've used a fleet of these tents as our program tent for at least the last 6 years and have seen several redesigns of the product. They have seen extreme use in just about every backcountry area the lower 48 has to offer (below 10,000 feet), far more than any family would typically put them through. Zippers tend to give out before anything else and we're lucky if a tent lasts longer than a year. They're cheap enough we just swap good parts around until there's nothing left and buy some more. I was very disappointed to see them switch to the over engineered DAC hub and pole system: pole ends fall off, corner clips crack, and field repairs end up looking outrageous. Keep it simple Kelty. Bottom line: Small families camping in state parks or backpacking in temperate conditions: good value tent for the price point though family's with younger kids may want to loose the strings for solid zipper pulls (paper clips) to make them last. Programs looking for a "disposable tent" that will keep the elements out: it will do the job but let's hope they go back to the post and grommet that they use on the 2.1 Programs needing a tent that will do sustained high winds, snow loads, and costal exposure to sand and salt: this design won't handle that level of constant punishment so consider it a one time use option and invest in something heavier for those course areas.
